The Lucid Dream

'Hits Me Like I'm Stoned'

a rough idea of what we have in mind

The Lucid Dream join Fruits de Mer with a 7" single, combining their epic track, 'Hits Me Like I'm Stoned' with a cover of a lovely slice of 60s psych, Factory's 'Try A Little Sunshine' - The Lucid Dream produce "beautiful traditional psychedelia" (so said Lauren Laverne on BBC6) and they do it for FdM with an all-new, mind-blowing A-side b/w a great 60s cover.
....and here's an excerpt from 'Try A Little Sunshine'....

The band describe the new album they're working on as "a heady mixture of 2 minute psych-pop meets 10 minute drone onslaughts", and that just about sums up the new single for me, but what do other people say about the band...?

'jangly psychedelia, listeners tip of the week'
Steve Lamacq, BBC Radio 2

'a heady and glorious psychedelic nugget'
Rough Trade Stores

'Reverb-drenched majesty'
The Fly

'The Lucid Dream stand out as bright as a lighthouse beam. All that pass their way must shimmer in the neon sunshine that they create'
Shindig! Magazine

So how did the band find its way to FdM...?
The Lucid Dream were formed in Carlisle, Cumbria, in 2008.
On the back of 2 sold out EP's in 2010 ('Erbistock Mill', 'In Your Eyes'), and 2 7" single releases in 2011 ('Love In My Veins', 'Heartbreak Girl'), the band have gained acclaim from the likes of NME, Q, Frank Skinner (Absolute Radio), Steve Lamacq (BBC Radio 2, and major support from BBC 6 Music (Nemone 'Record of the Weekend', Lauren Laverne, Gideon Coe, Tom Robinson). Most recently, 'Heartbreak Girl' was featured on Sky One's 'Soccer AM'!.
The Lucid Dream have been compared on earlier releases to the likes of Spacemen 3, Suicide and The Jesus and Mary Chain, with more recent comparisons citing The Byrds, Primal Scream and The Monkees. The live show varies from 2 minute hits of psych pop to 10 minute drone onslaughts, referenced at best by the epic trip of set closer 'Hits Me Like I'm Stoned' (yep, that's the track we're releasing - ed).
The releases coincided with appearances at The Big Chill Festival, Liverpool Sound City, and several appearances at Kendal Calling, including a main stage slot in 2011. The band have supported the likes of The Magic Band (of Captain Beefheart fame), Spectrum (featuring Sonic Boom, founder member of Spacemen 3), Crocodiles, and The Aliens.
